When Should You Have Your Wisdom Teeth Removed?

Fortunately, not everyone will experience the issues of discomfort from their wisdom teeth. Your dentist will recommend having them removed if they notice any of the following concerns:

• Wisdom teeth are impacted
• Wisdom teeth erupt at a poor angle
• Your mouth and jaw are too small
• You are prone to cavities or gum disease

What to Expect After Surgery

In the few hours after your wisdom teeth removal, you should avoid anything hot, hard, or carbonated. You may also experience swelling and discomfort as the anesthesia wears off, both of which can be maintained with ice packs and your prescribed pain medication. Be sure to gently brush the area to keep it clean.
